The Seasonal: ACACIA FILM FEST 2010

Every few months on the ACACIA community space , we are planning on featuring articles, interviews, and creative works centered around one theme.  We are currently featuring reviews and info on the selections for our 2010 Film Fest.  If you haven’t participated before, this May and June, we’ll be taking a look at six different movies through six different teachers.  Each week will focus on one film and hear how the stories and characters can speak to our own lives and faith here & now.  Don’t miss out Thursday’s in the GP Underground.  We teach through clips, so plan to watch the full movie ahead of time!
FEATURE FOUR: SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE w/ Craig Nason THURSDAY, May 20th. The winner of best picture in 2008, Slumdog is an incredible story about a Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums and becomes a contestant on the Indian version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answers.  It’s a movie that challenges & inspires on a lot of levels…. if you haven’t seen it, you need to!   You can check out a preview here.  More information on the movie at IMDB.  Also, rotten tomatoes gives several reviews & opinions.  Stay tuned for more info…
We continue to archive summaries & links to the most recent pieces here under The Seasonal tab.  You can still access the incredible posts from our earlier seasonal themes: HOPES & DREAMS, VENTURING OUT, HE CAME FOR THIS, & VENTURING OUT by going to the categories archive on the right sidebar, and clicking on “Seasonal: Venturing Out”, or whatever category you want to browse.  Enjoy!
