Tonight @ ACACIA, we end our Love & Relationship Series. 7PM GP Underground, more details here. We’ll be looking over a lot of what’s been covered this last 5 weeks, but especially the idea of marriage…. how can we approach it? why is it a total fear or even waste-of-time in some of our minds? why does it stand as one of the richest symbols of God’s love in the scriptures? There’s so much that could be said tonight, but in reality, we’ll probably just loop the following speech all evening so that we can achieve full wisdom together:

Tomorrow night, Cassie will be teaching as we finish our look @ the book of Hosea together. Here’s a quote from Rob Bell’s book “Sex God” that many of you have read through. It captures the analogy of marriage that we’ve been exploring in this study really well:
The Ten Commandments are the… agreement between people and God about how they’re going to live together, which is why the first one deals with having other gods. It’s essentially an agreement that this relationship won’t work if they have other lovers. And for the rest of the Hebrew Scriptures, we find God referring back to these original vows. In the book of Hosea, God says to his people, “You cheated on me!” The whole book is a picture of how God’s people have been unfaithful to him. In one text God laments, “You were the bride of my youth.”…From the perspective of the Scriptures, then, a man and a woman coming together is a picture of God and his people coming together- the God of Exodus, the God who travels with his people in a cloud of smoke and fire. Well’p…. in this lightning fast facebook era, its already pretty well known news…. but some people we know are definitely getting married. What’s crazy is how even though they’re down under, 1000′s of miles away, we already have pics to prove it. Those who were in attendance at Olive Garden a week ago will now ignore this former bachelor’s comments about deal breakers. For now we celebrate the son of Karen & Ed. the daughter of Kim & Mark. We guess the best pre-honeymoon honeymoon of the year was actually prophetic of a real future union.
