Life and Times of Ross Orpet

Today we take a look at the goings on with Russ, excuse me Ross Orpet, a Wyomingite at heart who turned from his roots to settle down into the “Centennial State,” or as we know it, Colorado.  He shares a bit about himself here…

AFD: Tell us a little about yourself: school, where you are from, family, how long you have been at West Bowles.

RO: I was born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming. Both my parents still live there and my younger sister is at the university of Wyoming. My favorite color is purple. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelors of Science. My first time at West Bowles was May of this year.

AFD: Talk about your church history: do your folks go? Are you new to it?

RO: My parents don’t really go to church although my mom does have a relationship with God. If you want to hear more about how I came about a relationship with God feel free to come ask me about it id love to talk about it.

How is work going? Now that you are a certified Physical Therapist, what’s the best advice you can offer someone with a sprained ankle??

Alright let me set a few rumors straight here. I’m not a certified physical therapist, as Kelly likes to tell people. Nor am I a doctor like Ryan has said before. And for that matter my name isn’t Russ like Brian likes to tell people. What I am is a physical therapist aide and the best thing for a sprain is R.I.C.E., rest, ice, compression, and elevation.

What are your goals now, on the way of school or job or God?

The eventual goal is to become a PA and learning everything God has to teach me a long the way.

Have you done any mission work? Are you thinking of doing any at West Bowles?

I guess you’d have to define mission work. I’ve never been lucky enough to have the opportunity to do any work aboard. I have done some work here to help out a girls home in Belize. I have volunteered with kids and done some work at the homeless mission downtown. I’m really on a relationship kick right now on my walk with God. I love hearing others’ opinion of God and religion and life in general, no matter the other person’s opinions or beliefs. So if anyone ever feels like having a discussion about life I am always open to a good talk.

How’s Starbucks treating you these days?

It seems like you go a lot. There isn’t a Starbucks in Laramie so it is kind of new to me. But it’s been good I’m loving those Chai teas.

What are your predictions for Wyoming’s season? Since they beat Air Force, do you think they are still doomed for failure?

I know… keep rubbing it in. I’m the most pessimistic fan ever I never think we’re gonna do well but I still watch and cheer for them every weekend.

What’s something most people don’t know about you yet?

I’ve taken 8 years of French and been to France twice.  I met Steve-O on the top of the Eiffel tower
